Curriculum Overview
What You’ll Learn in the Studio East Vinyasa 200
Sequencing, Asana & Alignment
Develop the skills to design and deliver safe, effective, and meaningful yoga classes. You’ll study key alignment principles, posture modifications, and how to offer clear, inclusive cues for a wide range of student needs. Learn to sequence classes that are purposeful — whether you’re building toward a peak pose, exploring a theme, or supporting specific physical or energetic outcomes. By the end of the training, you’ll be able to teach intelligent, balanced classes that meet students where they are and support them on their individual paths.
History & Philosophy of Yoga
Gain a foundational understanding of yoga’s deep cultural, philosophical, and spiritual roots. You’ll explore timeless texts such as the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and Upanishads, and study concepts like the Eight Limbs. Trace yoga’s evolution from its origins in ancient India to its presence in modern global culture, and examine the contributions of key teachers and movements. Through group discussion and personal reflection, you’ll learn to integrate yoga philosophy into your teaching and daily life — deepening your connection to yoga as a holistic path of self-inquiry and transformation.
Teaching Yoga: Ethics, Voice & the Modern Landscape
Explore what it truly means to step into the role of teacher. Focusing on ethical teaching practices, professionalism, and self-awareness. Topics include power dynamics, cultural appropriation, setting boundaries, and honoring the roots of yoga in diverse contemporary contexts. You’ll also dive into the practical realities of teaching: finding work, navigating the "business" of yoga, and using tools like social media to build your teaching platform with authenticity and integrity. Throughout the program, you’ll regularly practise teaching your co-students — developing your unique voice, presence, and confidence.
Anatomy & Physiology for Yoga Teachers
Build a practical understanding of the body to teach yoga safely and effectively. You'll study the musculoskeletal, respiratory, and nervous systems as they relate to movement, breath, and stillness. Emphasis is placed on functional anatomy — understanding how different bodies move, and how to adapt your teaching to support individual needs and variations. Key topics include injury prevention, joint structure, muscular engagement, and the biomechanics of common asana. This training empowers you to make informed, responsive choices in your teaching to support your students’ well-being.
The Art of Adjustments
Learn how to offer respectful, safe, and intentional hands-on adjustments. You’ll develop the skills to assess when (and whether) an adjustment is appropriate, how to communicate clearly and obtain consent, and how to guide students through touch that supports — rather than overrides — their experience. You’ll explore verbal, visual, and tactile cueing, and how to offer adjustments with clarity, confidence, and care. This training honors student autonomy and emphasizes bodily sovereignty, empowering you to use adjustments as a tool for deeper connection and support.

Jess Jacobs
Jess is a London-based yoga teacher whose journey began with a 200-hour Ashtanga and Rocket training with The Yoga People, direct students of Larry Schultz, the creator of Rocket Yoga.
What started as teaching on the side quickly grew into something much bigger. In October 2023, Jess opened her first studio, following her passion to create a welcoming space for others to explore the transformative power of yoga.
After a decade in the fast-paced fashion industry, and experiencing the effects of burnout, yoga became an essential tool for Jess to support both her mental and physical wellbeing. Teaching and sharing this practice has since brought her immense joy and purpose.
As a naturally hypermobile practitioner, Jess emphasizes the importance of using yoga not only to lengthen but also to strengthen the body. Drawing on her additional training in Reformer Pilates and Barre, she often weaves elements of these disciplines into her classes for a balanced and dynamic approach.
Committed to continually expanding her knowledge, Jess has completed advanced trainings including 50 hours of Rocket with Marcus Veda, 20 hours of Yin with The Yoga People, 20 hours of Yin with Emily Mergerat, 50 hours of Power & Yin with Charlotte Welfare, and 50 hours of Sequencing with Jason Crandell.
Her passion for learning ensures her teaching remains fresh, informed, and inspiring.
